Gianna Clemente Becomes Youngest to Make Final Cut at Augusta National Women’s Amateur

At just fourteen years old, Gianna Clemente earned an invitation to the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Fueled by the remarkable string of successes on courses in the US, Canada, and elsewhere, Gianna competed on the illustrious international stage at the end of March.

The Augusta National Women’s Amateur features 72 of the best woman amateur golfers from around the world. The first two rounds are contested at Champions Retreat, located just outside Augusta, GA. The top 30 players and ties after Thursday’s second round make it to the final round played at Augusta National on Saturday.

Gianna started the tournament with a 2 over par 74 on Wednesday. Thursday she got off to a slow start and stood at 4 over par for the tournament with 10 holes remaining before firing off five birdies on her last 10 holes to finish at -1 through two rounds (T7 at the time of writing). She rallied in the second half of her round Thursday to comfortably make the cut for the final round.

After turning fifteen years old just a week before the tournament, Gianna was not only the youngest competing but also became the youngest participant to ever make the final cut at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Overall, Gianna placed 14th.

Gianna was extended playing privileges at Bonita Bay Club over 5 years ago and has been a member favorite since. We would like to wish Gianna a huge congratulations and are proud she calls Bonita Bay Club her home club!
