Honoring Marlaine: A Journey of Commitment and Community at Bonita Bay Club

If you’ve ever been curious about how the Sports Center Shop offers such stylish clothing, you can thank Marlaine! Marlaine Silcox, the Pro Shop Manager at Bonita Bay Club, has dedicated over 25 years of outstanding service to the club and its members, showcasing her unwavering commitment to their satisfaction.

A Passionate Career at Bonita Bay Club
Marlaine’s journey at Bonita Bay Club began nearly 27 years ago as a Tennis Associate. Her dedication and hard work quickly propelled her to the role of Pro Shop Manager, where she has thrived ever since.

“I love buying for the Sports Center Shop. I’m a born shopper and love going to other shops to get new ideas for our shop.”

In her role as Pro Shop Manager, Marlaine oversees the front desk staff and is responsible for buying and merchandising a diverse selection of apparel, gifts, and sports equipment. She also plays a vital role in organizing events such as fashion shows and trunk shows.

Over the years, Marlaine has witnessed the growth at the Sports Center including the addition of pickleball and tennis courts, a croquet lawn and a pool.

“When I first started working at Bonita Bay Club the Sports Center Shop was the size of my office. Since then, we have had two major remodels.”

A Love for the Members
To Marlaine what truly sets Bonita Bay Club apart are the Members.

“Our wonderful members have kept me rooted at Bonita Bay Club. We have the nicest, most thoughtful members. The Club is like a home away from home. It’s been a pleasure getting to know all the members and meeting their families.”

A Personal Touch
Marlaine is a Florida native born and raised in Daytona Beach. She spent much of her early years at the beach surfing or watching car races at the Daytona Speedway. She attended Edison Community College, where she focused on Real Estate and Business and worked for Edison Realty in Fort Myers.

When she became a single mother to her daughter, Marlaine knew she needed something full-time and more consistent than real estate. This led her to merchandising, where she worked for several large retail stores before finding her way to Bonita Bay Club. Her daughter now lives in Tampa where she is an Anchor/News Reporter.

In her free time, Marlaine loves to watch sunsets on the beach and grow orchids for her lanai.

Looking Ahead
As Marlaine reflects on her time at Bonita Bay Club, she feels a deep sense of gratitude. “When I drive through the gates of Bonita Bay Club, I always feel blessed working at such a beautiful club,” she says.

Marlaine looks forward to continuing to connect with members and understand their unique styles. With her extensive experience at Bonita Bay Club, she has developed a keen sense of the membership’s preferences, which she thoughtfully implements at buying shows. When members walk through the Sports Shop doors and get excited about new items, it fills Marlaine with a sense of pride and happiness.

Here’s to many more years of shared moments and stylish discoveries with Marlaine!
