When we think of February, most of us think of Valentine’s Day. The “Hallmark” holiday to celebrate how much we love our sweethearts. So, we rack our brains trying to find that special gift, but we usually settle on a nice romantic dinner at a favorite restaurant, some flowers, or maybe some chocolates (hopefully, dark chocolate for its many health benefits). This year though, I challenge you to think outside the “chocolate box” for the perfect gift, and nothing says I love you like spending time with your loved one.
This Valentine’s Day, spend time with the one you love doing one of these heart-healthy activities:
- Plan a “gym date.” You’ve heard that old saying, “a couple that trains together stays together.” Well maybe that’s just what we say over here in Fitness but working out together can strengthen your relationship and your heart!
- How about a couple’s massage? Massage is a great way to relax and reduce stress. Did you know that stress can cause high blood pressure, chest pain, and even a heart attack?
- Try partner yoga. Partner yoga is a style of yoga where two people work together in poses to enhance their yoga practice. Partner yoga requires trust, communication, and sensitivity to each other’s needs and abilities. It is a great way to strengthen your bond with your partner while getting all the health benefits of yoga.
- Take a walk! It’s a great way to get active and promote heart health.
“Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time.” -Rick Warren.
This Valentine’s Day, say I love you and I want you to be a part of my life for a very long time with a health-focused gift from your Fitness Center. It will have a lasting and meaningful impact!
