A Legacy of Giving Through The FineMark Women’s Pro Tennis Championship

On Sunday, January 12, the 4th annual Lee Health Charity Golf Tournament was held on the newly designed Sabal Course. With a sold-out roster of participants, the event raised an impressive $111,000 in support of the Lee Health Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic at Coconut Point. This milestone brings the total funds raised by the FineMark Women’s Pro Tennis Championship and its associated events to over $2.3 million for the Lee Health Cancer Institute.

Looking ahead, we are excited for the “Oh, What a Night” Gala that will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025. This special evening is not only a celebration of world-class tennis but also a key fundraising effort, with proceeds dedicated to building an endowment for the Lee Health Richard M. Schulze Family Cancer Center at Coconut Point. Proceeds will support the Cancer Support Community Program at the Richard M Schultz Family Foundation Cancer Clinic /Lee Health Cancer Institute and also the purchase of robotic equipment. In previous years, efforts by the Charity Committee resulted in a dedicated infusion suite named after The Good Fellas tennis team, and another infusion suite and the pharmacy named for Bonita Bay. Last year support went to the expansion of the rehabilitation center.

We are excited for the return of the FineMark Women’s Pro Tennis Championship, set to take place from April 28 – May 4, 2025. This highly anticipated event will bring top-tier talent to Bonita Bay Club once again. If history has shown us anything, it’s that this tournament attracts future tennis stars—just look at Coco Gauff, who played in our event’s qualifying rounds in its first year and is now a US Open champion and ranked among the best in the world.

The talent at this tournament is nothing short of exceptional, with numerous players going on to compete on the world’s biggest stages, including the US Open. In 2024 alone, 17 women who played in our tournament went on to compete in the US Open—a testament to the high level of competition we host right here at Bonita Bay Club.

We invite all members to get involved, whether by attending the events, volunteering, or supporting through sponsorships. For more details, and information on how to get involved, please visit www.bbcusta.net.
